Will You?

This one’s a personal reflection on the tension between thought & action when it comes to creating stuff; how overthinking often gets in the way of exploration. I’ve found that it’s way more comfortable to theorize than to execute on creative ideas. But no amount of theorizing can match the impact of bringing an idea to life, even when we aren’t exactly sure how it will be received. The collision of intention and action can be beautiful and uncertain.

What I’m really getting at with “Will You?” is that certainty can actually limit us. The more we cling to what we think we know, the less we allow ourselves to explore. Action reveals what speculation obscures: the nuance of each moment, the consequences of our choices, the probability of success or failure, and, most importantly, the “what ifs” we never really see when we’re stuck in our heads.

For me, this song is about embracing discomfort, uncertainty, and the power of action to drive meaning. Until we step forward, what we think we know is just fear dressed up as foresight. I hope this one resonates with you as much as it does for me. It’s different, and is inspired by my earliest memories listening to electronic music, specifically Burial’s album Untrue.

This is a new remix I made of radiohead - idioteque

The original version was my introduction to electronic music in high school. It was glitchy and anxious and perfect. I wanted to reimagine a song that shaped an entire generation of musicians before dance music truly broke into the mainstream.

Myself & my friend Christopher David, an oil painter by training, wanted to use new generative tools to hallucinate the visual world of the song.

Maybe it’s just noise. Maybe it’s something deeper we haven’t learned to name yet.
