"L'impulsion qui est à l'origine de la composition de Red T-Shirt, c'est la photo qui a choqué le monde en septembre 2015 du corps du petit Aylan, immigré Kurde, retrouvé noyé sur une plage en Turquie en essayant de quitter son pays en guerre (la Syrie). Quand j'ai évoqué le sujet avec Anne et Sylvain, les réalisateurs du clip, je leur ai dit de se sentir libre de leur interprétation du sujet, tout en essayant de garder l'idée d'impuissance qui est intrinsèque à la chanson.
Le résultat m’a étonné. C’est profond mais pas navrant, triste mais pas déprimant. Je n’aurais pu être plus touché par leur travail. La trame de fond rappelle avec beaucoup de pudeur le parcours tragique de cet enfant, et de centaines de millions d'autres poussés sur la route de l'exil au péril de leur vie, sans tomber dans le pathos."

“The impetus behind the composition of Red T-Shirt was the photo that shocked the world in September 2015 of the body of little Aylan, a Kurdish immigrant found drowned on a beach in Turkey while trying to leave his war-torn country (Syria). When I discussed the subject with Anne and Sylvain, the video's directors, I told them to feel free to interpret the subject in their own way, while trying to keep the idea of helplessness that is intrinsic to the song.
The result surprised me. It's deep but not heartbreaking, sad but not depressing. I couldn't have been more touched by their work. The background story recalls with great modesty the tragic journey of this child, and of hundreds of millions of others pushed onto the road of exile at the risk of their lives, without falling into pathos.”

Hi guys,
This song is taken from Neil Young’s 1972 album Harvest.
It tells the story of him befriending the old owner of the ranch he’d just bought as he was now a self confessed “rich hippy”.
I feel it’s a young man trying to come to terms with his newfound wealth and to understand the generational gap between the two men.
I find his fragility incredibly moving.
Another standout track on this album for me is A Man Needs A Maid.
