Alexandra Stréliski - Umbra
“Umbra is one of my favorite pieces to play live. It began as the finale of my solo piano show, and soon became a collective celebration based on improvisations. A few hours in the studio, and it was alive! I have so much fun playing it with my wonderful musicians, Julia and Natalia Kotarba, and with my longtime partner (and friend), Maxime Navert, on synths. ‘Umbra’ refers to the darkest part of the shadow, but this piece was created to try to put some light in it." – Alexandra Stréliski

The “Prelude in Lodz” is a song of memory. It is an echo to the name of my piano (Lodz) and to the jewish origins of my family name.
It was recorded in Paris, untouched, and played in one take by the wonderful Julia Kotarba.
A cry for memory, a cry for peace.

Le "Prelude in Lodz” est un appel au souvenir. Il fait echo au nom de mon piano d’enfance (Lodz) et à la région d’où provient mon nom de famille.
Il a été enregistré à Paris, non retouché en studio et joué d’un trait par la merveilleuse Julia Kotarba.
