Headhunting to Beatboxing is a vibrant musical journey that traces the evolution of rhythm across cultures, from ancient tribal traditions to modern beatboxing. Produced by A. R. Rahman and directed by Rohit Gupta, the documentary explores how music transcends geography, time, and identity. With Abu Metha and Theja Meru serving as executive producers, this film is a powerful celebration of sound, heritage, and the universal human beat.

Jamal is a song about happiness — a reminder that you don’t need a reason to be happy, compassionate, or kind. It is a celebration of humanity and of the simple acts that bring people together, often through the smallest gestures.
At its core, Jamal is about sharing the gifts we have with others and celebrating our shared humanity, especially when it is needed the most.
The idea for the song originally came from Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil of Burjeel Holdings, who entrusted me with creating a piece that reflects who we are, what we stand for, and the values we carry within us. I am deeply grateful to Burjeel Holdings for the trust placed in me with this song.
Musically, Jamal is contemporary in its approach. The song is written by Shuba and myself, with Shuba opening the track beautifully. The creative process was completely organic — musicians coming together and simply jamming. We also have Brandon Diaz from Hollywood, who has lent his voice to the track, adding a unique dimension to the sound.
When Mayssa Karaa came in with her stunning vocalization, the moment felt almost magical. That expression naturally evolved into the intro — something that feels like a lullaby for humanity. Her contribution is integral to the emotional core of the song.
The track is further elevated by the Firdaus Orchestra, whose rich string arrangements add depth, warmth, and a powerful cinematic quality.

The music video is directed by BToS – Nazeef. We had a wonderful time envisioning how to capture something uniquely from Dubai, UAE, keeping the visuals simple, honest, and memorable, with the Jamal hook step tying the entire narrative together.
