He shares the Salt Lake airport encounter that helped spark the book, the three-year writing process, and difficult family experiences, including accusations against his dad and the pressure that intensified his early career and American Idol years. David describes a spiritual experience that shifted his self-view, what led him to step away from the Church, and his hope that both LDS and queer communities will better understand and see each other. After audience Q&A, he performs “Old and Young” and “On Purpose” from the DEVOUT EP. -
