The box also includes restored artwork, archival visuals, and new liner notes written by Sananda himself, alongside timeless songs such as Sign Your Name, Delicate, She Kissed Me and Holding On To You.

(O Brittania, Here I Come).

It had been a long year.

And I wondered whether or not we had given ourselves enough time post Cancer therapy, to both properly recuperate physically & mentally, while fretting into birth the schematics & preparation of our return to the land of Great Britain,
where we’d not professionally been since shortly after the Century’s turn, 2002.

Circumstances being as they were, often we questioned the wisdom of our commitment to the timeline’s brevity, looming in the shadow as it were of many doubts mainly reflecting on not having been in that situation before, a longshoreman awash on virgin shores.

These Gigs Mattered to Me.
Very Much So.
And They Had to Be Clubs.

I was reclaiming a thread left unwoven, reconnecting with an old love at ground level, who had both given and claimed a life, & returning to commune with a culture that shaped our mind from childhood & gave flight & roots to a restless spirit.

It Was Time to Kiss & Make Up.

It mattered to me that we be worthy of the story that in the meanwhile had been written about an Artist’s transition from one life to the next,
though through every curve & turn,
‘A Melody’, for every mountain, a song.

Hence, SMNUK ‘25 !

The Sugar Plum Pharaohs & I invite you to partake of this wonderful experience we had together at the O2 Empire in Shepherd’s Bush, London (after 23 years, on Guy Fawkes night no less), which I had last played in the singular & thrillingly fabulous year of 1995.

Despite our initial anxiety about the schedule (pronounced particularly for these purposes as do the Brits, “SHED-ule”) that we’d given our word towards, focus & determination prevailed & the results we hope, should be clear enough in the great fun & joy we had being back amongst the rollicking camaraderie of an English audience, & in the city of London, where I first drew blood. 🇬🇧

When putting the Set List together for this particular UK Tour, Songs were jumping me like Immigration Agents looking to catch my Ear’s attention for inclusion.
Having previously determined the general format & length of the Set, limiting the Song Selection was in fact THE hardest part of the process.
Having so far been fortunate enough to have published well over 300 Songs, this was definitely among the better ‘problems’ to have. And among those Songs most persistently tugging at my Memory’s Heart Strings was this offering ‘Pretty Baby’.
A Song ultimately about Unconditional Love & Acceptance & the Transformative Power of Forgiveness. A Song For the Season, & for All Seasons.
A Song that says : “Wherever You Are In Life, I Am There.”

*This is an example of having Written a Song that the Writer themselves walks right into after some years only to wonder whether or not the Song was Written in anticipation & foreknowledge of their own personal travails to come. Every night, after having overcome the toxic discomfort of Cancer’s Mental Strain, this Song would bring us to the edge of emotion as we visualised a devoted Shepherd softly reassuring his trusting flock in no uncertain terms that NOTHING WILL SEPARATE HIM from his Devotion to their Safe Deliverance from Fallow Fields to Pastures of Plenty.
