This song, though much loved, for one reason of another didn't make the I´m Not Anyone album. Mike Stevens played and produced a few extra tracks than the ones that finally made the cut. We wanted to keep to strictly single vinyl classic lengths, maybe it just didn't fit the album flow so we had to, as they say, murder our babies and leave some off. It gave us heartache. Therefore they may not be finished mixes or levelled and mastered but I´d like you to hear them. There´s no plans to release them officially. I'm not officially on BMG at present anyway and who knows where the future lies.

This song, White Bird, was originally recorded and performed by Its A Beautiful Day, an American West Coast band, in 1969. I love its Autumnal feeling of foreboding and once again almost apocalyptic melancholy. The beautiful harmony is sung by Stephanie Goodwin.

Correction, there is a typo in the third verse where it says 'flies' instead of 'eyes'. The correct words are:

She must fly

Today is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and more than ever in this world it's important we remember. I did this song quite a few years ago, it was never finished and the vocal is rough but the words and sentiment are clear. As far as I remember it was taken from a Polish poem and song called Song Of The Blackbird and is based on the translation I had available which I adapted.
